The cake in the back was commissioned by my friend Brett, who runs his own catering business.  Brett and I went to culinary school together.  While we both went through the pastry program, he loathes making cake with the fiery passion of a thousand suns.  So when he has a gig that requires any sort of cake-like dessert, my phone rings.  
Chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache and chocolate buttercream, glazed with more ganache.
Topped with raspberries and dusted with gold luster dust.

I particularly love the contrast between the brown and gold.

This one went to our next door neighbors.
